November 2022 Election Endorsements

Jen Ahearn-Koch
for Sarasota City Commission

Picture
Jen is the Sarasota city commissioner with the deepest roots in our community. She has demonstrated a long time commitment to our neighborhoods, and is not beholden to special interests. Currently serving her fifth year as an at-large city commissioner, she is now running for re-election. Jen served as vice mayor 2018-2019 and mayor 2019-2020. She is an active member of the Florida League of Cities and has been honored with their “Home Rule Hero” award for three consecutive years.

Fredd Atkins
for Sarasota County Commission

Picture
Fredd is a long-time community and civil rights activist and former mayor of the City of Sarasota. He is running for Sarasota County Commission in District 2. A long track record of work for the community aside, we also endorse him because he makes affordable housing a top issue. Fredd carried the district in his 2016 run against Mike Moran but lost in countywide elections. The configuration has now changed with the passage of Single Member Districts in 2018 and reaffirmation this March.
