Nina Turner is the president of Our Revolution, an organization built on the success of Bernie Sanders’ historic presidential Campaign.
By supporting a new generation of progressive leaders, empowering millions to fight for progressive change and elevating the political consciousness, Our Revolution seeks to transform American politics to make our economic systems responsive to the needs of working families. Local affiliate groups around the country form the activist base of the organization. Sarasota’s local “Our Revolution” affiliate is Progressive Sarasota.

Friday night Keynote speaker Nina Turner from OUR REVOLUTION spoke about the success progressives are having around the country and what needs to happen in Florida as we move towards the 2018 elections.

Additional Featured speakers include Rev, Russell Meyer, Ex. Director of the Florida Council of Churches and George Friday, Move to Amend National Leadership Team.
~ Breakout Sessions ~
Featured speakers include Rev, Russell Meyer, Ex. Director of the Florida Council of Churches and George Friday, Move to Amend National Leadership Team. Representatives from Black Lives Matter Tampa, the Florida Immigrant Rights Coalition, the ACLU, Fight for 15, and Defend Local will be represented in panel discussions. We'll also have a panel discussing local development issues and how we can do a better job in long-range planning for a more sustainable future right here in Sarasota. The issues of Single Payer Healthcare, Wealth Inequality and the Fight for a Sustainable Growth and Green Energy Future were also featured topics in our breakout sessions.

- Inquire as to how Seattle and Chattanooga were able to install Community cable.
- How can we interact with the city and the county with regards to Affordable billing packages and programming more suited towards our community.
- A co-op perhaps using wireless cable as the last mile and mounting Wireless transmitters on cell towers.
Rethinking Plastics Sarasota
- A Facebook page under this name is already active.
- Meet with City-County sustainability departments.
- Public Relation efforts.
- Styrofoam and mixed microplastics and their impact on the environment.
- Refillable containers for products.
- Education at schools to teach not only the students but also the parents
