PROGRESSIVE SARASOTA ENDORSES JOHANNES WERNER FOR BERNIE DELEGATE!
We encourage you to Vote JOHANNES WERNER for BERNIE DELEGATE!
Many of you will recognize Johannes from his photo. Rain or shine, Johannes was at the Farmers Market every Saturday for almost a year speaking to folks about Bernie's platform and recruiting new volunteers. He phone banked, canvassed, and generally put his head and heart into doing everything possible to support Bernie's campaign. He is a true progressive and has been engaged in transportation and energy issues in our area. You will find his reasons for running below. Click here to request a ballot before May 13th. Voting will take place May 14-16.
Why I am running:
The stakes are enormous: Climate change, exploding inequality, economic crash and unemployment, rising authoritarianism — playing it safe and muddling through is not good enough. If the Democratic Party fails to project a comprehensive vision that generates enthusiasm, we will be stuck in opposition for the foreseeable future. We have to distance ourselves from the financial players that weigh down our economy, we have to push for a Green New Deal, for providing (unemployment) benefits to tipped and gig-economy workers, raising the federal minimum wage, and for universal healthcare. We have to move away from our militarized foreign policy and never-ending war.
I have given it all to Bernie and his campaign since he announced in 2019. Now it's time to keep Bernie's issues at the forefront and hold the nominee accountable.
